Reflection: The Sand
Your Word says a lot about sand.
You said Abraham’s offspring would be more numerous than the sand.
David said Your thoughts outnumber the sand.
Jesus said that a person who ignored his words would be like one building a house on sinking sand.
I say that the wet sand slips perfectly between my toes.
And it’s sinking reminds me both that I can be washed clean, and that I should not take my stances so seriously. I cannot stake my identity upon them, because in a moment, I will need new ones.
The sand reminds me both of my importance and my impermanence.
My print is perfect.
And in a little while it will be gone.
But today, I can make my mark.
And I thank You.
